Mustached Bomber [Mario Odyssey/Super Bomberman R]

● The 'screenshots' look a bit odd at full resolution, since it was only ever meant to be a tiny image with the same size as the screenshots on the Bomberman website.

● So... eh... what exactly is this?  
About three months ago I posted an image of this mysterious 'Mustached Bomber' (both on the Nintendo Switch page and the Bomberman one )
It got over 300 upvotes and the image was viewed over 3000 times. Whoa! :0
Since it got quite a bit of attention and people often get mad over these things, I want to write a long explanation on what exactly this is and how it came be.


 ● This 'leak' was posted just a short while before Odyssey's release date, and not too long after new DLC characters had been announced for Super Bomberman R.
At the time, Bomberman R was quite... how do I say this... 'dead'. I think it still is, I haven't played it in a while but good lord the online mode just SCREAMS missed opportunities.
Bomberman R is by no means a perfect game but I quite enjoyed it, so it really pains me to see the online mode in such a laggy state, which is probably why almost no one seems to be playing it anymore.
Whenever there IS a stable connection though, it's really dang fun! Another thing about Bomberman R I like is the simple 2D artstyle, and since it didn't look too hard to imitate I wanted to give that a try. 
I think it's fair to say that it worked: it most definitely got people talking about the game again which was wonderful to see! The Reddit people were surprisingly nice too, shoutouts to you guys!

As for the leak itself, I used a bunch of announcement posts from the official Bomberman Facebook page as a reference, like these: [1] [2]
The name 'ss17' is in line with the file names on the official Bomberman R website. The only thing that I did differently were the colored stripes in the background and the bombs in the bottom right corner.
The font is pretty much the same as the one used in the announcement post, one person commented on it but I don't think it's possible to spot the difference from such a tiny picture (or they had an amazing eye for detail!). The bombs were also used as an argument to dismiss the leak, since people thought they were ripped straight from WarioWare art. That's actually not the case though! The bombs themselves are exactly the same as the official artwork, and only the Wario face is based on the WarioWare icon. Apparently people have also completely forgotten about the (official!) Gameboy Wario-Bomberman crossover, which is what I was referencing here. That one just so happened to be one of my favorite childhood games, any DLC that could bring these two characters back together would be amazing to me... but probably not to almost everyone else. One last thing that was seen as odd is the Mario Odyssey screenshot, apparently a lot of people thought it was stretched vertically. It's simply Mario's hat bouncing up and down as he's running, but I understand the confusion, I should've probably picked a better moment to take that screenshot. One last thing- oh, you're still reading this? Wow. Thanks dude, that's really nice of you, have a wonderful day. I really mean that. But yes the last thing I wanted to add to this ridiculously long wall of text is that the creator of the Smash Rayman leak commented on this leak on Twitter. That certainly made my day, since I was super impressed by his work after crying about the Rayman leak for like 20 minutes! <: )
